Aligarh Shines at National Kabaddi Championship – Players and Coaches Honored

Aligarh: Young kabaddi players from Aligarh made the city and Uttar Pradesh proud by representing the state in the National Kabaddi Championship 2025, held recently in Haridwar. In recognition of their achievement, a grand felicitation ceremony was organized by the District Olympic Association Aligarh on Wednesday at the MVM Kabaddi Academy, Maharishi Vidya Mandir, Agra Road.

The event honored not only the national-level players but also their dedicated coaches and early trainers who played a key role in shaping their journey.

Chief Guest and District Olympic Association Secretary Mazharul Qamar presented mementos and appreciation certificates to players Nishant Singh, Abhishek, and Jyoti Balian, who were selected for the national team. He praised the talent and hard work of Aligarh’s youth and expressed confidence that they would continue to bring pride to both the state and the country. He also appreciated the vital role of the coaches, saying that true sporting success begins with a committed mentor.

Maharishi Vidya Mandir Principal, Mahendra Upadhyay, who presided over the event, said, “Athletes don’t just win medals – they represent discipline, hard work, and determination.” He described the early trainers as the “silent builders of the nation,” acknowledging their key role in guiding young talent.

Prominent coaches Gajendra Tiwari, Rajat Balian, and several others were also honored for giving players the foundation they needed in the sport. The players, while speaking at the event, expressed heartfelt gratitude to their early coaches, saying they wouldn’t have reached the national stage without their guidance during childhood.

The event was smoothly conducted by Bhagat Singh Baba, Secretary of the District Wrestling Association. It saw the presence of many well-known faces from the sports community, including Pradeep Rawat, Prem Singh Lodhi, Som Prakash Sharma, Shuaib Pehalwan, Shiv Kumar, Awadhesh Rao, Satendra Singh Rana, Mahesh Kumar, Pishu Solanki, Tikam Pal, Vikas, and Ravi Kumar, among others. School management members, senior teachers, and local sports lovers also attended in large numbers.

At the end of the ceremony, all participants were presented with certificates of appreciation, flower bouquets, and mementos.
